I should have seen the movie a long time ago, but Tim and I finally saw it in DVD last night. It definitely renewed my efforts to pay more attention to what I'm eating. Tim and I are pretty picky in general. We don't eat too much processed food, we avoid high frutose corn syrup, and we love our veggies. However, the film reminded me about my meat consumption. Today, I'm picking up some grass fed beef from a local farmer. I've had some before, but I'd like to start eating farm raised beef on a more regular basis. Otherwise, Tim and I will just have to rely on our veggies. It amazes me that mose people eat meat every day.
I think the freakiest part of the movie was when it discussed the laws that have been written to prevent independent farmers from continuing to farm independently. Even we live across the road from a huge dairy farm operation. When they spread chemicals and fertilizers on the fields, it blows right over to our yard. We can't even drink our well water because we're concerned about the chemicals coming up from the soil.
How do you feel about this situation? What have you done to take control over your food?
